Today, I want you all to meet Elsha, from When Mine Became Ours. We have been blog buddies for quite some time. She always makes me laugh with her stories and she has really cute style. She is the funniest girl with super long legs you'll ever come across!
Hello my fellow Always Maylee fans! I have been obsessed with this gal for so long and I pee'd my pants (as I often do when overly excited) when I got her email asking me to guest post. I feel like our main lady Jennifer Lawrence when movie stars wave at her and she just stares blankly back....Wait me?? What?!
Now I know we all LOVE life hacks, but today I'm going to be showing some clothing hacks. I'm obsessed over finding a good deal, but as fate would have it nothing ever fits perfect or even comes in my size (I'm 5'9). So I've become quite adept at altering and "hacking" these sweet deals that are never perfect and I want to share the knowledge I have discovered with you!
1. Why Do I Keep Tripping Over You?
I had these amazing distressed jeans that I have all broken in, but I hated how long they were and the destroyed hem. HACKED! Measure, snip, fold, and stitch down on the seams so the fold doesn't fall out.
2. Too Big? No Problem!
I found this skirt at the Gap Outlet for $2. Is this real life?! No :( Because it was way too big, but $2 was too good to pass up. This is the easiest way to take in any skirt and can be easily hidden with a belt.
Put the skirt on inside out and fold on the waistband how you want it to fit. Pin, take off, stitch on the fold and WA-LA!
3.Not True To Size!
Now this shirt was from Style Lately, and is extremely deceiving. "Oh that model is super skinny and it's over-sized on her, so I should be fine ordering a medium." WRONG! I couldn't even get it over my Ta-ta's! And because I am quite stubborn (and it was a final sale) I didn't want to waste the money. Enter in left over black lace and some scissors.
Cut up the side seams till your shirt looks like a poncho. Measure your fabric and always allow for extra length. Turn inside out, sew lace to shirt on both sides and you have a over-sized, non-muscle-man shirt.
Thank you for reading! And next time don't pass up that fantastic sale for something as simple as a size difference :) You can follow me for more Clothing Hacks in the future!
