Ok I'm so glad you said that because I keep doing the same thing. I'm all like "oh yeah, dresses as skirt, expanded wardrobe" and then every sweater I try on with them just looks ridiculous. So glad I'm not the only one!

It's funny, I was JUST leaving a comment on Courtney's site girlavantgarde.com about how she could wear that great striped dress she was featuring as a skirt. I saw your comment above mine and linked over to check out what you were up to today, and here you have a post about dresses as skirts! I totally try to do the same with my dresses (it's just good closet arithmatic) but you are correct that it's sometimes difficult based on the length/pattern of your tops. I like what you did here!

Honestly, I know what you mean about the sweater/dress situation.
I tried doing that a couple times only to find out the length really has to hit where the waist seam is or else it looks like you're wearing a sweater over a dress ;)
But if you're in the market for sweaters, now is probably the best time for it since so much is on sale...so happy shopping!!

I do the exact same thing, no matter how many pieces I buy to stretch my wardrobe, I always end up need more! I am the complete opposite of you though in that half of the sweaters I own are white or off white... maybe a closet swap is in order!

I love wearing dresses as skirts as well - I started to do it last summer and went with a really simple look. jersey dresses with a simple t-shirt, sandles and sunnies. it was so comfortable to go into work like that and easy to throw on a summer scarf and go to happy hour! :)

I wish I can turn skirts into dresses. Dresses are so easy to wear; I just need to put a cardigan on. I can never find anything to wear with skirts. Maybe I need more sweaters too!

I have this same problem! After I discovered this trick on another blog (M Loves M) I was so excited at all the prospects. But I quickly realized there are definitely certain dresses & certain sweaters/tops that can be put together this way.
